China Surface Engineering is directed by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), which is an engineering publication organized by the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES) and the transaction of the Surface Engineering Institution and Remanufacturing Institution. CSE was founded in 1988 and published at home and abroad every two months. The fifth editorial board of CSE contains 89 well known experts in and out of China, including 12 academicians and 16 international members.    

    Academic, instructive and practical are the basic principles of CSE. Latest experiment results and achievements in surface engineering and remanufacturing and progresses in energy saving, material saving and environment protection will be published in CSE, which intend to progress the development of surface engineering and remanufacturing in China. Special Designation, Engineering Foreland, Foreign Paper, Surface Engineering Research, Engineering Application and Academic Trends are the main columns in CSE.

    China Surface Engineering is a leading journal in China, which has won many prizes of excellent magazine, such as the Two-benefit Journals of Chinese Journal Formation, Third-session Excellent Scientific Technology Journal sponsored by CAST, Outstanding S&T Journals of China, 100 Outstanding Academic Journals of China and so on. The journal has been funded by CAST Promotion Project for Elite Journal.

    China Surface Engineering is a Chinese Core Journal, a Chinese Science and Technology Core Journal and a Chinese Core Science Journal, which is listed in Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD),  China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database (CNKI), China Open Access Journals, American Engineering Index (EI Compendex), American Chemistry Abstract Database (CA),  American Cambridge Abstract (CSA),  Russian Abstract Journal Database (AJ), Japan Science and Technology Agency(Chinese Bib-liographic Database) and so on.
