ICOR2021 INVITES THE INDUSTRY WITH AN IMPRESSIVE KEYNOTE AND INDUSTRY SPEAKER LINE-UP
University of Brighton together with University of Strathclyde will host the International Conference on Remanufacturing (ICoR) 2021 on 24-25 March as a fully digital – and for this occasion free – event with around 35 speakers. The conference targets international participants from academia and industry to meet and learn more about the latest research and industrial trends within remanufacturing. The line-up of announced keynotes and industry speakers include Prof Duc Pham (UK), Prof Zhang Wei (CH), Prof John W. Sutherland, (USA), Dr Fiona Charnley (UK), Prof Huajun Cao (CH), Patricia Gehrlein (GER), David Fitzsimons (UK) and Mr Yongliang Chen (CH).
The ICoR2021 conference has a remanufacturing focus and will deal with many topics related to remanufacturing e.g. business models, economic aspects, ICT, industrial marketing, innovation, legal aspects, organisational issues, process design, education and training, B2B, B2C, quality management, sustainability, resource efficiency, design for remanufacturing, core acquisition, reverse logistics, digitalisation, information management, and lean remanufacturing.

About the organisers of ICoR2021
ICoR2021 is organised by University of Brighton (UK) and University of Strathclyde (UK) and co-organised by Hefei University of Technology (China), Wuhan University of Science and Technology (China) and Rematec.
Dr Yan Wang at University of Brighton is one of the UK’s leading researchers in remanufacturing, has published 50+ papers and been granted 10 patents. She is a member of editorial board of Journal of Remanufacturing and Journal of Surface Engineering (Chinese) and guest editor of Special Issue "Green Technologies for Production Processes" of Processes (ISSN 2227-9717); Selected as one of 30 inspiring women by the KTN/The Manufacturer magazine, she serves on BSI technical group BS8887 on remanufacturing standards and is a key member of China-UK remanufacturing working group on the joint development BSI/ISO remanufacturing standards. Since 2016, Wang has led the China-UK remanufacturing summits attended by senior government policymakers from the UK (e.g. BEIS, DIT, UKRI) and China (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology China (MIIT)). These supported a G7 ‘Value Retention Policies’ workshop (Montreal, 2018) with advice on international standards (e.g. BSI standard BS-8887) and the state of remanufacturing in China.
Dr. Winnie Ijomah at the University of Strathclyde (UoS) is the UK’s most prominent remanufacture researcher. Elements of her work are incorporated into British Standards Institution (BSI) (e.g. BS 8887-220:2010). She is initiator and Technical Director of the Scottish Institute for Remanufacture (SIR), a pan-Scotland expertise Centre for remanufacture. She is founder Editor-in-Chief of the Springer Journal of Remanufacturing, and initiated the International Conferences on Remanufacturing (ICoR) series, both are the first for remanufacture. She has featured in more than 80 journal articles, book chapters and conference proceedings.
Prof James Windmill (JW) at the University of Strathclyde (UoS) is a Professor in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. He has research interests in Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) for Remanufacturing and is a co-investigator (Co-I) on the EPSRC Research Centre in NDE and the EPSRC CDT for Future Ultrasonic Engineering. He is an academic member of the Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering at Strathclyde, and have featured in more than 50 publications. I’m also the managing editor of the Journal of Remanufacturing, a relatively new open access journal
Prof Wei Zhang is the director of the Institute of Remanufacturing Industry Technology，Jing-Jin-Ji (IRIT), which is stemmed from the National Key Lab for Remanufacturing in China, and is currently the only industrial research institution in remanufacturing innovation, policy and standards in China. With 20 full time researchers, IRIT is a governmental think-tank in remanufacturing in China and has co-authored the governmental action plan released by Minister of Information and Industrial Technology ("High-End and Smart Remanufacturing Action Plan 2018-2020"). Prof Wei Zhang is a leading researcher in China, and has proven track record in research in remanufacturing engineering, surface engineering and tribology. Professor Zhang published more than 100 SCI and EI retrieved academic papers and is a chief advisor of National key R&D Program in China in remanufacturing. He plays an instrumental role in remanufacturing standard development and compiled 19 national remanufacturing standards. He has received significant funding (£10m+ since 2018) from Chinese governments for remanufacturing research. In recognition of his contribution activities in remanufacturing and surface engineering, he has won 10 national, provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards.
Prof. Haihong Huang at Hefei University of Technology, China is a leading researcher in proactive remanufacturing in China. He has been a national outstanding Youth Fellow of Nature Science Foundation since 2017, a Research Affiliate (RA) of STC A (Life Cycle Engineering and Assembly) of CIRP since 2014. He has led 4 NSF research projects as PI, has published over 110 academic papers, and been granted 20 Chinese patents. Prof. Huang has reviewed for over 10 international journals, served on the international scientific committee of the Prof. Huang has reviewed for over 10 international journals, served on the international scientific committee of the CIRP conference, and on the editorial board of a special issue of China Mechanical Engineering.
Prof. Zhigang Jiang at Wuhan University of Science and Technology has an international reputation in remanufacturing shop floor management. He has published over 60 research papers and 1 book. He has received financial support from various Chinese funding agencies, including NSF, the National Science and Technology Support Plan and National 863 plans. Prof. Jiang is a senior member of the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering and an active reviewer for several internationally renowned academic journals, e.g. Journal of Cleaner Production. Prof. Jiang has developed research methodologies and theories for process planning and scheduling for remanufacturing.
